Medium
In a figure, O is the center of a circle and M, N lie on the circle, forming a right triangle MON with the right angle at O. The area of the right triangle MON is 50 cm^2. What is the area of the circle in cm^2?
- A2*pi
- B50*pi
- C75*pi
- 100*pi
Explanation
OM and ON are both radii of the circle (r), and the right angle at O makes them the two legs of the right triangle. Area = (1/2) x r x r = r^2/2 = 50, so r^2 = 100. Area of circle = pi*r^2 = 100*pi.
