GATE 2020
Easy
For an air-standard Diesel cycle,
- Aheat addition is at constant volume and heat rejection is at constant pressure
- Bheat addition is at constant pressure and heat rejection is at constant pressure
- heat addition is at constant pressure and heat rejection is at constant volume
- Dheat addition is at constant volume and heat rejection is at constant volume
Explanation
In the ideal air-standard Diesel cycle, combustion (heat addition) occurs at constant pressure (the piston moves during fuel injection/burning), while the exhaust process (heat rejection) occurs at constant volume, exactly like the Otto cycle's rejection stroke.
