Which one of the following statements is correct for a superheated vapour?
- Its pressure is less than the saturation pressure at a given temperature.
- BIts temperature is less than the saturation temperature at a given pressure.
- CIts volume is less than the volume of the saturated vapour at a given temperature.
- DIts enthalpy is less than the enthalpy of the saturated vapour at a given pressure.
Explanation
At a fixed temperature, a superheated vapour exists at a pressure below the saturation pressure for that temperature (equivalently, at fixed pressure its temperature exceeds the saturation temperature) — this is the defining condition of superheat.
