For the stability of a floating body the
- Acentre of buoyancy must coincide with the centre of gravity
- Bcentre of buoyancy must be above the centre of gravity
- Ccentre of gravity must be above the centre of buoyancy
- metacentre must be above the centre of gravity
Explanation
A floating body is stable when its metacentric height GM (distance from centre of gravity G to metacentre M) is positive, i.e., the metacentre lies above the centre of gravity.
