GATE 2016
Easy
In a wire-cut EDM process, the necessary conditions that have to be met for making a successful cut are that
- Awire and sample are electrically non-conducting
- wire and sample are electrically conducting
- Cwire is electrically conducting and sample is electrically non-conducting
- Dsample is electrically conducting and wire is electrically non-conducting
Explanation
EDM removes material via electrical spark erosion, which requires a current path between the tool (wire) and the workpiece — so both must be electrically conducting.
