Medium
A car moves on a curved horizontal road of radius 100 m at 20 m/s. The rotating masses of the engine have an angular speed of 100 rad/s clockwise (viewed from the front) and a combined moment of inertia of 10 kg-m². The magnitude of the gyroscopic moment (in N-m) is __________.
200 N-m(± 1 accepted)
Explanation
Precession rate ωp = v/R = 20/100 = 0.2 rad/s. Gyroscopic couple C = I·ωspin·ωp = 10 × 100 × 0.2 = 200 N-m.
