The INCORRECT statement about regeneration in a vapor power cycle is that
- it increases the irreversibility by adding the liquid with higher energy content to the steam generator
- Bheat is exchanged between the expanding fluid in the turbine and the compressed fluid before heat addition
- Cthe principle is similar to the principle of the Stirling gas cycle
- Dit is practically implemented by providing feed water heaters
Explanation
Regeneration actually DECREASES irreversibility — by preheating feedwater with extracted steam it reduces the temperature difference during heat addition in the boiler, improving cycle efficiency. So the statement claiming it increases irreversibility is the incorrect one.
