Medium
For the same orthogonal turning operation described above (100 mm diameter bar, feed 0.25 mm/rev, depth of cut 4 mm, cutting velocity 90 m/min, tangential cutting force 1500 N perpendicular to the friction force, giving a rake angle of zero), the normal force acting at the chip-tool interface in N is
- A1000
- 1500
- C2000
- D2500
Explanation
With rake angle α=0, the standard force transformation N=Fc·cosα−Ft·sinα simplifies to N=Fc (since cos0=1, sin0=0), regardless of the (unknown) thrust force Ft. So N=Fc=1500 N.
