Medium
Air enters an adiabatic nozzle at 300 kPa, 500 K with a velocity of 10 m/s. It leaves the nozzle at 100 kPa with a velocity of 180 m/s. The inlet area is 80 cm². The specific heat of air Cp is 1008 J/kg.K. The exit temperature of the air is
- A516 K
- B532 K
- 484 K
- D468 K
Explanation
For an adiabatic nozzle with no work: h1+V1²/2 = h2+V2²/2, so Cp(T1−T2) = (V2²−V1²)/2. T1−T2 = (180²−10²)/(2×1008) = 32300/2016 = 16.02 K. T2 = 500−16.02 ≈ 484 K.
