Fluid Mechanics
Bernoulli's Equation & Flow
GATE 2011
Easy
A streamline and an equipotential line in a flow field
- Aare parallel to each other
- are perpendicular to each other
- Cintersect at an acute angle
- Dare identical
Explanation
In potential flow, the slope of a streamline and the slope of an equipotential line at any point are negative reciprocals of each other (their product is -1), so streamlines and equipotential lines are everywhere mutually perpendicular (orthogonal trajectories).
