For the same Taylor's tool life equation (n=0.5, k=540), what is the percentage increase in tool life when the cutting speed is halved?
- A50%
- B200%
- 300%
- D400%
Explanation
T=(k/V)^(1/n)=(k/V)² since n=0.5. Halving V: T2=(k/(V/2))²=4(k/V)²=4T1. Percentage increase=(T2-T1)/T1×100=(4T1-T1)/T1×100=300%.
