Consider the following two statements. S1: Destination MAC address of an ARP reply is a broadcast address. S2: Destination MAC address of an ARP request is a broadcast address. Which one of the following choices is correct?
- ABoth S1 and S2 are true.
- BS1 is true and S2 is false.
- S1 is false and S2 is true.
- DBoth S1 and S2 are false.
Explanation
An ARP REQUEST is broadcast (destination MAC = broadcast address) since the sender doesn't yet know who has the target IP. An ARP REPLY, however, is sent directly (unicast) to the original requester's now-known MAC address — not broadcast. So S1 is false, S2 is true.
