In a survey, 300 respondents were asked whether they own a vehicle or not. If yes, they were further asked to mention whether they own a car or scooter or both. Their responses are tabulated below (Men, Women): Car (40, 34), Scooter (30, 20), Both (60, 46), Do not own vehicle (20, 50). What percent of respondents do not own a scooter?
48 %(± 0.5 accepted)
Explanation
Scooter owners (Scooter-only + Both) = Men(30+60)=90, Women(20+46)=66, total = 156 out of 300. Respondents who do NOT own a scooter = 300 − 156 = 144. Percentage = 144/300 = 48%.
