Medium
The square of the Thiele modulus is MT²=L²k/Deff, where L is the characteristic length of a catalyst pellet, k is the first-order rate constant, and Deff is the effective pore diffusivity. MT² is a measure of
- time scale of pore diffusion / time scale of reaction
- Brate of pore diffusion / rate of reaction
- Ctime scale of reaction / time scale of pore diffusion
- Drate of reaction / rate of external mass transfer
Explanation
L²/Deff has units of time (a diffusion time scale), while 1/k is a reaction time scale. MT²=(L²/Deff)×k = (diffusion time scale)/(reaction time scale).
