Hard
P→2Q and P→R occur in a batch reactor. Mole fractions xQ, xR after 1 hour vary linearly with temperature, both lines passing through the origin. At 25°C, the yield of Q based on P consumed (YQ) is 0.40. The value of YQ at 60°C is
0.4(± 0.02 accepted)
Explanation
Since both xQ and xR are linear through the origin in T, their ratio xR/xQ is constant at every temperature. With xQ=2ξ1/(1+ξ1) and xR=ξ2/(1+ξ1), a constant xR/xQ means ξ2/ξ1 is constant too, so YQ=2ξ1/(ξ1+ξ2) is temperature-independent — it stays at 0.40 for all T.
