Hard
For a binary ideal-gas mixture A-B (total P=100kPa), pA=10kPa and 5kPa at two points 10mm apart. Case 1: A diffuses through stagnant B. Case 2: equimolal counter-diffusion. The ratio of molar flux of A in Case 1 to Case 2 is
- A0.58
- 1.08
- C1.58
- D2.18
Explanation
Case1/Case2 ratio = P/pBM, where pBM=log-mean of pB1=90,pB2=95=(95−90)/ln(95/90)=92.48. Ratio=100/92.48=1.08.
