Hard

For A→products (order n) with a CSTR(V1) then PFR(V2) in series (Case I) vs. PFR(V2) then CSTR(V1) in series (Case II), same Q, CA0. Choose the correct option:

  • ACAf^I/CAf^II>1 for n=1
  • CAf^I/CAf^II=1 for n=1
  • CCAf^I/CAf^II<1 for n=1
  • DCAf^I/CAf^II=1 for n>0

Explanation

For a first-order reaction, the concentration ratios for CSTR and PFR combine multiplicatively regardless of order (multiplication is commutative), so the final conversion is identical whichever unit comes first — but this only holds exactly for n=1, not n>0 in general.
