Flow Through Pipes
GATE 2014
Easy
Slurries are most conveniently pumped by a
- Asyringe pump
- diaphragm pump
- Cvacuum pump
- Dgear pump
Explanation
Diaphragm pumps have no close-clearance moving parts in contact with the pumped fluid (a flexible diaphragm displaces it instead), so they tolerate abrasive, particle-laden slurries well — unlike gear pumps (tight clearances easily damaged/jammed by solids) or syringe/vacuum pumps (not suited to continuous slurry duty).
